Our service does cost a little bit more but is more than worth it.

From £36.00 our engineers will fully assemble your rack to exact tolerances and using the latest anti corrosion liquid gasket system.  The rack will then be delivered to your desired location (mainland UK).  Of course we can still deliver flat packed if preferred.  This minor charge is to cover the fuel and running costs of our own vehicle and to cover the labour involved in employing a engineer to deliver.  Current plans are on for a friday schedule.  However, this will be reviewed as required.

From £76.00 our engineers will not only do all of the above, but they will professionally fit your new Patriot product.  This service is not contracted and will only ever be done by our engineers.

We decided to take this step as recently the number of damaged deliveries has been increasing, leading to delays and upset for you our customer.  We felt that a product as perfect as ours should arrive in the same condition it leaves us.

The British Red Cross are a volunteer-led humanitarian organisation that helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are.

They enable vulnerable people at home and overseas to prepare for and respond to emergencies in their own communities.

And when the crisis is over, they help people recover and move on with their lives.

With the recent freezing weather the need for capable vehicles was greater than ever.  Luckily, with Land Rover’s support they had the use of Patriot Products equipped Defender 110′s.

From his very first interview, we saw a great sense of humour in this shy teenager from the Czech Republic.  And that he had a striking resemblance to the highly popular Borat.  Up to today he has a willingness (bordering on stupidity) that allowed us our usual introductory fun (things like ‘can you go get me a spirit level bubble’ or ‘can you get the sky hooks from the stores?’ or even ‘can you ask the storesman for a long weight?’).

However, due to his accent and appearance we felt it only fitting to challenge him to allow us the time to take some photos – in the famous Borat mankini.  Unbelievably he did.

I would personally like to thank him for being such a good sport in such freezing weather!

I spent 10 hours on Saturday towing people up Millbrook Hill (yes close to the famous Millbrook test track).  Working well after dark a few of us 4×4 owners spent most of the day and night clearing a massive back log of vehicles through this little village.

I would just like to express my digust at the local police and their attitude towards the whole situation.  I will explain why: A police officer pulls up to a junction, after we had already recovered approximately 20 cars.  When asked if he could close the road he replied ‘Do you know what resources are required to do this?’.  He was heading down the hill and could simply of  place a couple of cones out.  So I explained there is an issue because the gritting lorry cannot get down the road and there are cars with children etc in.  He told us to go home and let people fend for themselves.  At this half the people who had already spent time helping became angry and the policeman left.

Of the people we recovered there was two police heading to start their shift, a fireman been called in for an emergency and a handful of emergency medical staff.  None of these would have been able to get to their emergencies without our help.

All this aside most people was very grateful we was on hand to help.  Unfortunately a few people thought it would be a good idea to go past the queued cars as fast as possible in an attempt to have momentum to make the hill.  90% of the time this failed causing us more trouble than had they waited.

I would just like to mention a few cars which I would not use in the snow and the reasons why:

• Skoda Fabia (new shape) – the towing eye has to be inserted through the grill and cannot be screwed into place without removing trim.
• BMW 1xx – a small hatchback which being rear wheel drive has little traction on slippery surfaces.
• Ford Mondeo Estate (new shape) – terrible traction as no weight over front wheels, had to be towed over a mile!
• Vauxhall Insigna – traction control cuts engine if wheels spin slightly.
• Modern Vans – most are now front wheel drive and terrible in the snow.

I would just like to congratulate the 4×4 owners from Marston and surrounding areas on a job well done.  We moved an estimated 200 vehicles on Saturday and successfully managed to clear all the traffic.

The number of requests now means we carry a stock of these clamps.  Whilst not identical our clamps are similar in appearance, yet having been designed by our engineers is made to our standard and our quality of materials.  There have been a few basic changes to prevent our design from fractures or breaks.

Obviously Hannibal is seen as competition to the Patriot Roof Rack, but we believe customer service is important and as such feel it wrong for one of our sales team to attempt to sell our products to someone who has already spent a considerable sum.  This is why we have built a high quality replacement clamp with fixings and rubber protective sleeve to prevent damage to the vehicle.

Should anyone require this replacement, please contact us.  We hold a stock level of this clamp.  We can also supply antitheft fittings and tooling for this product.

We have complete chequerplate sets for all Defenders.  Other vehicles are due to be included shortly.

We are close to finalising our retail prices to a new level.  Because we manufacture from start to finish ourselves (unlike other suppliers) we can lower our prices.

We are implementing a range for trade only (at present), this range is based on material finish and material thickness.  Our existing resellers and those who have decided Patriot Chequerplate is the brand they would like to stock can supply you as of now.

Our retail chequerplate is 3mm aluminium with fully chamfered edges, countersunk holes, and stainless steel fittings with anti vibration technology.   These are available in natural, powdercoated or anodised finishes (choice of colours available).  Also available for retail is optional foam gaskets.

Failed web servers, email issues and now domain issues.  The whole technology boom is great when it works right, but causes chaos when it doesn’t.

This year we have had our fill.  But currently everything is working except for the mapping of our old domain http://www.patriotroofracks.co.uk (/me frantically updates DNS registrations). The effects of this includes the following:

• Website fails on patriotroofracks.co.uk
• Emails fail to adresses @patriotroofracks.co.uk
• RDP fails on PRR network

*sigh*

Hopefully these issues should be resolved soon.
